Die Levanteotter (Macrovipera lebetina) ist eine Schlange aus der Familie der Vipern (Viperidae).

Sie ist die größte Viper Europas, kommt hier allerdings nur in Dagestan und damit am äußersten, östlichen Rand des Kontinents vor.

Das gesamte Verbreitungsgebiet reicht von Zypern über die Türkei, den Irak und Iran bis nach Afghanistan und Pakistan, isolierte Vorkommen gibt es außerdem in Nordafrika.

Es werden fünf Unterarten anerkannt.

Die Levanteotter ist wie alle Vipern giftig; der Biss ist für Menschen jedoch nur in Ausnahmefällen tödlich.
